missoni heaven.

If you follow my blog you probably already know that my favourite daily piece on my feet are my Converse. Must say that I, for a slight second, was in heaven when I saw this collaboration with Missoni on saks.com. The price-tag is $200 .. a bit heafty for a pair of Converse maybe, but LOOK AT THEM! Imagine these with washed out denim shorts and a transparent shirt this summer .. Yum ...

Less than two weeks left till my trip to the States .. and YES I am tempted to bring these babies home with me. Only time will tell I guess .. Lol.

It's the start of the weekend now and my sister just came home with a bottle of red for us to chill with. So that's exactly what I'm going to do now! Enjoy your Friday eve people! / P. x

For several months there has been hundreds of designers flocking to their drawing tables and dressing mannequins to create the wedding dress of the century. And a lot of hearts were broken when the "winner" was revealed. My heart however was fully joyful as the project was given to one of my favourite designers at the moment, Sarah Burton. Since being confirmed to be the new Creative Director for Alexander McQueen she has baffled a lot of us with her amazing creations and today she did it again.

200 years of British royal history and the heritage of the Arts & Crafts tradition was incorporated in the wedding dress that had a 3 meter train. The Royal School of Needlework worked closely with the Alexander McQueen atelier to create a hand-embroided, sculpted bodice that Kate wore over her Victorian-style corset. The hand-stitchers had to wash their hands every 30 minutes and change the needle every 3 hours to keep the lace and thread clean and pristine. In addition to all of this, Sarah Burton hand-picked every bit of fabric used on the dress herself, ensuring only the best material in the UK was used. Now thats hard work!

So big up Sarah Burton! I'll make sure to save your details for my own future plans .. :))

H&M is releasing its 4th Fashion against AIDS collection on the 26 April 2011, and this time with a unisex collection! Big hoodies, one-pieces and funky bold accessories will be sold with 25% of all profits being donated to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS amongst the younger generation of the world. The celebs have gathered for yet another release so get involved people .. I know I already have some favourites .. :))

The wait is over .. The enviromentally friendly collection has finally hit all the H&M stores worldwide. The launch was due to be on the 14th but most stores (at least in London) launched it a day before. Was flipping the floor in our Harrods concession on Wednesday morning so got a first glance at the new pop up department in the Knightsbridge store. Here are my favourite pieces:

Don't we just love these?! Love the use of mixed material .. the rawness with the soft elements .. and the fact that it's all hand-made makes each piece unique. Creator Nicole Akong started her career many years ago but launched her sexy label Akong in 2010 in London. The pieces are quite pricey yes .. but then again I wouldn't expect any less. Rock on Akong! / P. x

healing jewellery?

I woke up nice and early today to attend my first yoga session. It might be a phase or I might actually continue this through this time around .. Let's hope it's the second option! The practise is based around both your inner and outer health focusing on your core, flexibility and breathing patterns. In other words .. it's amazing for you!

My trip to the States is getting nearer and nearer and as I am visiting Arizona, which is one of the most spiritual and energetic areas of north America, it's the perfect time to pick up some (spiritual?) items for a future project. Was inspired by the practise and lessons learnt today and thought to maybe combine it with something that is constantly growing on the summer/spring 2011 catwalks. Have you ever heard of crystal healing? Well a lot of people that are very spiritually engaged believe that rock crystals and stones can, in a similar way to yoga, balance your inner chakras and magnetic forces. It might not be used in a similar way on the catwalk but you can not avoid the truth .. it also looks shit hot!

Definitly browsing through the many crystal/stone shops found in Arizona when I get there. Hopefully I will get the chance to bag a couple of nice pieces for myself.

Im finding more and more of the underground jewellery scene and have stumbled upon some with similar interest to mine .. industrial jewellery! Many of us refer to jewellery as something pretty, shiny and bold .. But looking at the catwalk from all the recent SS collections we are definitly seeing more of this fierce attitude. Me like! Making beautiful, feminine creations out of something very masculine and rough adds a lot of character to ones outfit. Definitly hoping to see more of this scene in 2011.

feathers.

So we are all following the trend by now .. feathers. A material so raw .. yet such a vibrant enhancement to any outfit. Feathers are normally always associated with bohemian but it's 2011 now and we are slowly getting the grasp of how something so natural can turn into a fashionistas top accessory, especially in the world of costume jewellery .. and especially with spring just around the corner. Gwyneth Paltrow wore her vibrant feather earrings to the Grammys and singer KeSha is a big fan of the material too .. and that's only the beginning of the string of celebrities and fashion icons hooked on this trend.

Came across a cool brand designated to feathers only, Owlita. The brand started in Oregon, USA and specialises in vibrant feather earrings, all hand-dyed and joined individually. A bit pricy maybe .. but we still like them .. we like them a lot.

nails for cheap monday.

So the swedish brand Cheap Monday have decided to think outside the box this time. The normally quite basic and "safe" brand has now put forward a six piece range completely based around rhodium and oil effect fake nails!

No? Not a fan of jewellery and accessories? Don´t worry .. They even have it on a pair of jeans and a top/dress. Halleluja!

The collection have prices ranging from 16 EUR to 90 EUR and can be found at the Cheap Monday website. Very bizarre in a way .. but might be something for all you dare-devils out there. Selma .. ?
