the concious collection by h&m.

The wait is over .. The enviromentally friendly collection has finally hit all the H&M stores worldwide. The launch was due to be on the 14th but most stores (at least in London) launched it a day before. Was flipping the floor in our Harrods concession on Wednesday morning so got a first glance at the new pop up department in the Knightsbridge store. Here are my favourite pieces:

have you ever seen a cupcake parlor this cool?

Walking past Soho yesterday we spotted this bakery, Cox Cookies & Cake. It's situated on Brewer Street, quite close to Madame JoJo's and is a collaboration between renowned shoedesigner Patrick Cox and Eric Lanlard, London's finest cake maker. It can't get better than that right? Well WRONG because this place is absolutely frikkin amazing. Due to my healthy regime (lol) I didn't step inside but the window displays were showcasing a small friction of what you could find inside. From sexy abs cupcakes to bunny cupcakes just in time for Easter. It's actually hilarious .. and look soooo tasty! And the new collaboration has had a lot of press coverage too. Giving my diet a couple of months and then that's where you will be finding me!

Last week we were introduced to the new project currently running at Selfridges, Bright Young Things. An interplay between 20 unique up-and-coming artist and designers all under the same roof, bringing everything from geometry to illustrations to the high-end department store. Some are quite bizzare, I have to say, but these artists are the ones Selfridges believe will make the most noise in 2011 and beyond. We had the privilege to see a brief catwalk with bits from some of the 10 first designers involved and we were presented with some quite extra-ordinary pieces. The concept is both a full window scheme (created by the designers themselves) and three in-store temporary shops. Products are also availible online.

Having windows viewed by millions of people every week that are some of the most famous ones in the world you make a big point when you decide to let completely new artists take over the full lot of them. It's something quite magnificently done by Selfridges. And so very brave! But it works so well and the sets are amazing! Walked past them today and were blown away so if you are in London, make sure you have a look. The project will be up till end of next month with the 10 remaining designers to showcase their work on February 4.

whats your shoe story?

Back with some images from the shoe displays at Selfridges. Pictures are being replaced with better ones once I find the time to take some decent photos! Haha .. They have done some pretty funny shoe sculptures though so still wanted to share it with you guys.

we ♥ window displays.

Windows are excellent spaces for experimental and conceptual design and London is the master city for it! I have come across some exceptionally impressing windows during my years here, but as I was walking around in Knightsbridge the other day, I had to stop at the windows at Harvey Nichols for a more thorough look. They have introduced a a new series of displays originated from the theme "Everyday Thing". It features elaborate sculptures made of everyday objects, such as pencils and cassettes. You can see everything from a dress made out of clothes pins to a car made out of plastic toys. The details and colour combinations are very striking so would definitly advise all of you to go down and have a look!! Love it!

Another quite amazing set of displays are the new shoe production displays at Selfridges. Now I haven't seen the final ones yet as I have not been back there but I am proud to say that I was one of the first ones to witness them being erected. The displays were put in on Thursday night, the same night I had a nightshift of my own, implementing the new September Update Directive. I therefore got a first glimpse of how they would all look. Sorry for the bad quality guys .. I took the photos from a distance in the dark.

kyle bean for selfridges

I absolutely adore the new windows at Selfridges. Designer and animator Kyle Bean has produced five pieces in which he is portraiting the scientific law of conservation of energy. Every window has a massive scale with two objects hanging off its arms. One is an object in its natural form and the other one is the object transformed into something else. It is showcasing that matter can never be erased or destroyed only transformed. The scales in the windows show that the objects are different, but still essentially the same. Go and check it out!
